Citéessä tapasimme Taiwanilaisen taitelijan Charlene Shih:n joka teki Los Angelesissa asuessaan teoksen 12 steps to success for artists in Los Angeles - jossa hän käytti amerikkalaisen kultuurin mantraa 12 askeleesta minne tahansa (tai yleensä pois mistä tahansa paheesta) ja haastatteli paikallisia taiteilijoita saadakseen tietää mitkä ovat ne 12 askelta jolla taiteilija saavuttaa menestyksen. /Here at Cité we have met a taiwanese artist Charlene Shih who made a art piece called 12 steps to success for artists in Los Angeles - in which she used the mantra of american culture - the 12 steps to anything (or rather away from any vice possible) and interviewed local artist in order to find out what are those 12 steps in order to find success in art.
Ajattelin laittaa sen tähän oheen eräänlaiseksi referenssiksi taitelijana olemiseen kytkeytyneistä ajatuksista. / I thought to post it here as a sort of reference to the ideas linked with being an artist.

Here in Cité artists rarely if ever discuss in depth of the content of their art and especially the meaning of being an artist. One of the reasons to this seems to be the need to have a "vacation" from the ordinary living and working environment and its pressure and stress. The artist small talk consists of - when meeting for the first time - the question : " what do you do ?" In which artists reply as if describing the content of a labelless bottle. " I am a painter - I am a musician , I play the cello, I am a visual artist , I work many with video - What else can you say- if the thing one does could be explainable in words there would be no need for it to be in the visual or otherwise- experienced only- form.
